There is a lot of greenery in and near Great Bear Lake. The greenery is lush, and densley populated with grasses and trees. There are mostly pine trees. The other types of plants/greenery are: Cloudberries, blueberries, raspberries, cranberries, blackberries, strawberries, and knuckle berries. Some trees are: Pine trees, black spruce trees, white spruce trees, and birch trees.
Pine trees (also known as evergreen trees) are trees that have their have their leaves year round. They are seventy to eighty feet tall. There are approximately one hundred fifteen species of evergreen trees in the world, and they live for a long time, surviving the harsh, cold winters.
Cloudberry plants are very closely related to strawberries, raspberries, cherries, and apples. They grow in swamp and arctic areas. They grow in little mounds with grasses and ferns. They have large underground roots and stems, that do not produce fruit every season. Cloud Berries are very juicy, and tasty for humans and animals.
Blueberries are extremely healthy. With great nutrition, and great flavor, blueberry plants are great benifit to us. They are native to North America. Blueberries are one of the only foods that are truly blue in color. They are low in both fat and sodium.
Raspberry plants most commonly grow red berries, but they can also grow black or purple berries. Raspberries are very healthy, and weigh about three to four grams (0.11 -- 0.18 oz). Raspberries are low in saturated fat and calories. Raspberries contain up to about one hundred druplets.
Blackberry plants are very high in vitamin C and fiber. They also contain Vitamin E. Blackberries are different then black raspberries. Blackberry's flowers are radially symmetrical. The blackberries them selves are delicious, nutritious, and extremely juicy. Blackberries prefer a temperate climate, and like to live near rivers or lakes.
Cranberry plants are Native to North America. One of the places they are primarily grown is Quebec, Canada. Cranberries can bounce and float! Cranberries do not grow in water but they do grow near water. Cranberries have high antioxidant values. Over 1,000 products in the world today contain cranberries. The vines bloom in late spring.
Strawberry plants are the only fruit with seeds on the outside and it has about 200 seeds. Strawberries are usually the first fruit to ripen in the spring. The delicious fruits are a member of the rose family. Strawberries are also very healthy as they are low in calories and fats, but high in potassium, vitamin C, folic acid, and fiber.
